I recently drove across the country for the 3rd time... I packed up the Stang, said farewell to Nola (and my folks) and hit the road for Southern California. To say that the drive is long is a severe understatement. Especially in the summer, it's hot out west, and my poor car (and my poor aunt who accompanied me on the drive) are still feeling the effects from the 3 days we spent traveling in 100 degree heat.
Just FYI- west Texas is beautiful. I had no idea peaches and wine were big in west Texas..but apparently-they are. All I remembered of west Texas from my previous two treks was that it was desolate and deserted.. but this time I actually notice so many things I hadn't before. It's hilly, and very lush before you hit the desert part of it. Rolling hills and vineyards.. It was awesome. Being out on the open road gave me plenty of time to think, and it made me feel lucky to believe (despite the heat, no sleep, the driving, the crazy buzzard, and the mass quantities of junk food I consumed..)
Arizona and New Mexico are beautiful too, but in a much different way. Being a Louisiana girl, I don't get to see too many mountains. This trip, I saw tons. Beautiful mesas and peaks.. Just stunning. It was very peaceful.. until I whacked a buzzard with my car going 70mph...
Yep.. I'm pretty sure he's dead... :/
The pic above is actually the 170 in Cali, but the pics below are from Texas and Arizona. These were all taken with my iPhone 4.
